I just purchased an E0 Q9550 and it is being shipped. It will replace my Q6600 overclocked at 3.2Ghz with a lapped TRUE cooler with dual Antec Tri-cool LED fans on medium. (I wasn't planning to lap the Q9550 unless it will have a big effect on the temps.) I am using an Asus P5K SE Motherboard, which unfortunately does not have voltage adjustments available for northbridge, southbridge, and pll. It does have the GTL ref setting which I have read is important for quads, but that setting didn't make any difference when I was overclocking my Q6600. How much of an overclock do you think I might be able to get out of an E0 Q9550 on that motherboard? (I have updated the BIOS so that it will support the Q9550.) I have 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR2 1066 ram if that makes a difference (related to the northbridge/southbridge voltage, I think).

3.825GHz should be a sinch; over 4.0 will be dependent on your board and cpu. I run @ 4.101Ghz and a with 1.485 for voltage. I have had it @ 4.25 but unable to get stable. The Q9950 will be a great cpu with no issues.

I don't want to exceed the stock voltage, thus, I use 1.15V for a 3.3GhzOC.

Hey there, I'd like to join the prestigious Q9550 club.

Q9550 E0 @ 4.03GHZ (471x8.5) 1.296 LLC enabled, CPU-Z (not validated because of Windows 7 x64, but I gaurentee it's valid ) http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=585239
post #818 of 2408
I disabled LLC, Vcore 1.16V +Vdrop = 1.10V and it's stable whereas with LLC enabled and 1.16V less, it's not stable at all.

So bored waiting for my screen....(Going from 1440x900 19" to 1920x1080 23.6")

I hope fedex shaves a day off or two...sometimes they overestimate.
I need to try your settings... I have same MB, CPU, CPU cooler as you but 3.4GHz is all I can get at stock BIOS settings. I have been hesitant to go higher as I thought my 48-50 C temps were too warm already!

Now I see you have the Antec 900 which is an awesome case for air cooling, so I must ask... what temps are you getting at idle and load? What ambient air/room temp?

Waiting for an important delivery sux eh?
