I got and installed my Q9550 today, but I have a few minor problems,

My Bios doesnt seem to be happy with the new cpu. it says " cannot fully support cpu" or something like that. It still boots and runs, but i have to press F1 to continue.

I believe it is the bios that could use updating, so I downloaded the bios update program, but I cannot install it. It either doesnt like win7, or 64Bit OS's. Yes, i've tried compatibility, it still doesnt work.

So, I'm thinking I need to make a Bootable CD to update the BIOS. I've googled it, but i'm uncomfortable with what i've found.

So, can anyone help me make a bootable BIOS cd? Thanks!

I'm running the P5KPL-CM MOBO.

Thats exactly what i'm trying to do. The question is how? I cannot update the bios within windows, so i need to do it some other way. i've heard you can boot from CD, can anyone guide me through doing this?

what you need to do is find a bootable .iso version of the bios, then simply burn that to cd(with any burning software like roxio or nero). then go into the bios and change the boot device to optical drive then insert the cd in the drive and boot. it should be cake from there. if you can't find a .iso version of the bios you will have to make one from whatever filetype you find of the bios with a program like power iso or magic iso. (the bios should be in iso format if you get it from asus though) hope this helps

Nevermind, I booted from another hard drive (With XP), installed the BIOS manager, and updated the BIOS from there. I'm not happy that ASUS hasn't made thier own driver update programs compatible with 7.

Now i'm testing my 9550, and Holly $#!t !!! Hold onto your pants!!!

everything loads soo much faster (than with my e5200). I can now max out UT3, and Fallout3, but not crysis yet (my 9800 is now the bottleneck!)

And its EO stepping, so i can overclock later.

I love the 9550!

< 9550 user, ADD M3 btw, not sure if any of you fellas read in the ep45 ud3p forum, but people may know me as the guy who has 3.9ghz (460fsb) stable, but any fsb over that will not go stable, even if multiplier is at 6.0 and its 2.8ghz...just cant go that high on fsb, doesnt make much sense considering im using a common bios format that many people used to get this chip and mobo stable at 4.03Ghz and considering...this chip rocks! Why cant i stabilize 4ghz...Ive been trying for weeks. i feel like ive tried everything =/ im becoming hopeless.

Before hand let me add in a couple things. These are what i mainly tweak and how high ive jacked them up before and still werent stable. Ive also brought these down to almost auto values but they were so low i couldnt even boot. I just thought maybe if i reversed volts back down it could be that. but it wasnt. I also loosened my timings up to about 5-6-6-16 and -6-6-6-17
