how high do the straps go?
No one knows really.. my GS's have broken new ground for me on the shader front.. I had to mod Rivatuner to allow me to clock into the 2200mhz range and beyond
As far as I can tell, the shaders keep moving every 54mhz.. with no apparent end, other than stability.
obviously they do have more physical SP's but if you lad like LN2 on your 9800 GTX+ where would be the limit in shaders? is there limit? or is it all based on voltage and temps? Couldn't someone just continue lowering the temps?
Just like CPU's they have limits beyond their capabilities.
ie- I am at the point right now, where the power circuitry cannot supply the GPU core with power fast enough to remain stable. While there are mods to adjust or tweak the capacitor clipping rates.. I am not interested in going there. My GS's are already the 2nd fastest in the world [3D mark wise]..and #1 for daily use and folding...
I will putting my GS's under DICE in a few weeks..so I can better answer your Q then
.. but for now, I know that dropping temps to 40c on idle should hold a stable shader clock of 2000mhz on stock voltage.. beyond that, my current limit for shaders is 2268mhz for bench use and 2166mhz for stable full Q gaming and folding <- that @ my current temps of 28c idle and 30-31c load.
***After water cooling them, I gained another 300mhz out of the shaders for stable use..increasing GPUv on water effected only the core speedEdited by CL3P20 - 12/8/08 at 2:39pm
