Hosted PC Component CAD Models - Page 6

I'm working on a rough draft of a HDD and I was just curious what you guys do with these models. Do you create an assembly model of the whole computer and render it?

I was just curious why a customer would want this...

Exactly; This is not only to produce a nice conceptual image (for the reader of a work log or customer), but also makes it very easy to check for clearance issues prior to doing any cutting resulting in a poor outcome and/or wasted time/materials.

Another advantage of professional CAD models is the ability to have parts CNC machined for more precision/repeatability.

Fair enough. Are there any thicknesses of HDD's you guys want? 2.5" and 3.5" models too?

Here's a SATA Optical Drive in an Inventor part file. This is my first contribution, so if the model should be cleaned up for sharing, please let me know. This was created in an Educational version of Inventor, units in mm.

Edit 1/22/11: The more I've been going through Inventor tutorials, the more I'm realizing how poor this model is. I'll update the face plate a bit, and include threaded holes on the sides.

Has anyone attempted to Model the Aerocool Strike-X Air case?

http://www.aerocool.us/strikex/strikex_air.html

Been attempting this myself, but i'm a complete noob at 3D Modeling, and can't seem to find one already done.

Hey guys, does anyone here have a G1.Sniper 5 drawn in SketchUp, or some program that I can open in SketchUp??
I have the board and I'm planning a high-end wall mounted rig, and plan to draw it out in SketchUp (and I'm very new in it), so some help would be really appreciated smile.gif
