VirtualBox: Best way to transfer files between the two host/guest client?

Title says it all.

Since the guest OS can't see any other drives other than it's own virtual drive, what is the best way to transfer files say between my Windows desktop and the Virtual linux box?

ultimately both. For now, from host to guest.

*EDIT* just found a thing in the bottom right called "shared folders" i'm guessing that has something to do with it?

What flavor of linux? I'm firing up my VirtualBox right now, but I've only got Solaris10 on this PC.

I've done this a few times, but I need to brush up. I'll report back what I find.

File-> install guest services. Then you can set up a shared folder between the two. I have a link to a guide somewhere..lemme find it.

If you don't want to use the Guest Addons, you can just use Samba to share folders through your virtual network.

Solaris doesn't support the Shared Folders, so I've never used them. But I'm sure anything is easier than Samba.

If you have never used Samba, I would suggest learning a little about it if you are planning to stick with Linux. It's a really neat program that help Windows and Linux boxes play nice on the same network.
