GTX280 and HD4870X2 price differences, why?

Hello

I would like to inquire why on earth are the price differences between ATI and nVIDIA so huge sometimes (nVIDIA being more expensive) even though the performance is on the ATI side usually.

And when can I expect to get a GTX 280 for a decent price?

Nvidia GTX280 = $315

ATI 4870X2 = $470

What are you talking about? the GTX280 is cheaper but slower, you get what you pay for.

Ummmmm, like everyone has said already, the GTX 280 is quite a bit cheaper, but expect prices to go down even more next month when the new cards are released.

When I bought my Alienware in September, it was completely other way around. I chose 4870X2 because it was cheaper, and as I also heard it was more powerful. I guess its just AW retardedness then that misled me here heh

But yea definitely GTX280 not yet that cheap in Northern Europe...

Wow you bought an alienware? It was guaranteed to be overpriced then. That company is a big ripoff IMO. Buy parts and build it yourself and save a few hundred lol.

Could have been that they gave you a diff board though for xfire support?

Nah I couldn't do it for any reasonable price myself here since I am in Japan

What do you mean by diff board?
