[Hexus]MSI launches first EFI-based BIOS - Page 2

chrisb.. what do u have against msi man? i have built 4 computers and i am currently building another one based off of a p45 platinum. ive had an excellent experience with everything ive owned from msi. their boards may not be the best overclockers but they provide excellent stability and features. i just dont see what the issue is. i guess i can say ive never had the best of luck with asus boards but id still be willing to give them a try.

Well, EFI still is a basic I/O system, proving minimal hard drive, optical drive, and network card support untill an OS loads something better, exactly what a traditional BIOS does.

They are CRAP. Craptastic crap. 3 dead motherboards and 2 DOA vga's tells me MSI is RUBBISH. And dont even get me started on there newb tech support.

EFI is an Extensible Firmware Interface, it is not a Basic Input Output System. yes it replaces a bios and does exactly what a bios does and more, but that doesn't make it a bios.

I'm sorry to hear you've had bad luck with MSI. I own a MSI mobo and VGA that are going on 5 - 6 years and still running strong.

boot to the bios and you had a mouse cursor and just click through the options....I always wondered why that didnt get more popular..? it was very easy and looked good as well...

Hopefully this works well...As i dont like the original Award bios design...seems every board maker has jumped on it as of late and all switched..

I much rather have the Phoenix bios or atleast the Award bios that looks like the Phoenix....

They dropped it because nobody liked using it, and it didn't really work all that well at the time.
