I had a 3.2 prescott that would top around 3.8ghz. I had a 3.4 prescott that would top at around 4.05 ghz. They don't all hit 4.0 ghz by any means... A lot of them did but not all. Prescotts were good, I had a Northwood that couldn't OC 300mhz over stock... It was pathetic.

Need some good cooling and a good mobo!

As for your question, it's always worth pushing a little more just for the fun of it. Whether or not it will yield you worthy performance compared to today's apps is your call.

Just keep upping the FSB, when it begins to lockup or issues occur, start upping the Voltage. Stress test with Prime 95 and /or OCCT.

Gaak, didn't mean to necro bump old thread, sorry!
