[AusGamers]InstantAction Now Free

The Instant Action blog has announced that their in-browser gaming service is now completely free to use, dropping their subscription model in favour of the increasingly popular free gaming model. They have a stack of pretty cool looking games, including Legions, a Tribes-esque 32 player FPS title (a bunch of the guys behind InstantAction used to work for Dynamix on the original Tribes). You'll have to sign up for a free account and install a browser plug-in to check them out.

Browser plugin? I'll stick with Steam.

Steam and InstantAction are in no way similar. Steam is for downloadable games that you must install. On InstantAction, all you do is install a browser plugin and you're able to play 3D games within your browser. The graphics aren't half bad either.

Even though it is just a plugin... there's always some catch to it...

yeah, because it's well known you can't have both.

i tried it out for awhile (Rokkitball is pretty fun) but those games are the kind you have collecting dust and pop in every few months.
