Woot! Q9550 finally stable @ 3.8

Thread Starter
I finally got my Q9550 stable at 3.8 last night, after playing with my memory settings a bit out of boredom. Torture tested for 4 hours in OCCT.

I'm really too lazy to type out all the specs, so have some pictures

Oh and, just as a note because I know someone is gonna point this out. I know those temps are pretty hot >.> but I am down 2 fans on my radiator since a series of fan failures, not to mention my room was stinking hot because my dorm never turns the heater off, and because of the space heater--i mean computer, sitting on my desk

For CPU feature, I have everything disabled except for Execute Disable Bit and Vitualization.

Before anyone else tells you by screaming at you and calling you a noob, i'll say:

Stability test should be at least 8 hours, but I like to see mine go at least 12, maybe 18-24.

This just helps make sure that you dont have problems in the long term. What load testing does is it crams a whole bunch of calculations into 4 hours. However you cant say oh I'm fine bcause I won't run at full load ever. Over the course of a year your computer does many more calculations just at idle, and its possible that you could crash then.

Just my 2 cents. but congrats on that overclock. I'm aiming for 4Ghz at least with mine when it gets here so we'll see.

Ya, I was planning to test it more when I had time, It's just that I'm in the middle of finals week atm, and a 4 hour test while I sleep is all I really had time for

I'm planning to do more extensive stress testing and tweaking over Christmas break though, and I'm not gonna run this OC 24/7 until after that.

Thanks

Those temps are fine. I get slightly higher (50-55C on all 4 cores) at 4GHz.

Ya, but I think I can get them lower. A reseat might be in order for my waterblock if they're still high after getting my fans fixed.

You're under water? All I've got is a TRUE. You definitely should get your fans fixed.

I got the fans on my rad setup again, hopefully these don't break between now and when my delta's come, and closed my case up.

I also let my room cool off for an hour while I was at class.

Here are my temps at boot now @ 3.8GHz

Attachment 90457

Here are temps at full load:

Ooh that's much better. Can't wait for mine!

Maybe you should put your rad outside. My temps are only slightly above that with a TRUE at 4GHz.

4 Hours of OCCT is nothing.

Run 40 or so loops of the Intel Linpack Burn Test.
