The southbridge, not the northbridge? Just go mount something else on there. The SB doesn't need much of a heatsink.

Yeah, that sucks, the SB and NB cooler is all connected so it's not as simple as just replacing one. Try what DirtyDuck suggested..

EDIT: Actualy after loooking at the pic it seems you've screwed it up pretty badly Might be a longshot but maybe someone on here has the full NB/SB cooler for a 780i spare if they are using WC, although I doubt anyone would be willing to part with it if they did as they wouldn't have a warranty without it..

Hmmm, if I'm seeing this correctly it's not a HUGE issue. But, EVGA is awesome with support and I'm sure they will RMA it. If you don't wanna do that though, monitor the SB temps and see if it gets too hot (not sure what the range is, ask EVGA).

You could ways break off the other side too ;x and just have some sort of bracket/plate over it holding it on, got any old Meccano laying around? ;D

I have a standard 780i stock heatsink I could part with since I dont really need it (maybe -im not sure though cuz i need it if i sell the board)

I always use cross shipping to get a new board and just transfer the new HS

but you will need to find your own stock HS interface for the mosfets - they can't really use thermal paste.

What you COULD do is pay $14 for crossshipping RMA and just swap the coolers on the board... that seems like a better idea IMO

well, I could drill a hole and bolt it down, I could cut the southbridge off completely and buy a third party...or purchase/rma one. Anyone willing to part with one for some monies?

I think the best option would be to get aftermarket coolers for all of the parts that the stock HS covers. I am sure there are plenty of spare NB and SB heatsinks laying around in OCN'ers shoe boxes. I have a couple of SB heatsinks myself. The SB is the thing to worry least about as far as cooling goes. However I would not run it bare. Look at Petra's or jab-tech and see, I bet you can find a NB and SB heatsink for just a few bucks.

ukno it helps to read?

Anyhow cross-shipping RMA is just what it says.

You pay a fee, EVGA sends you a new board first then you use the same box to send your old one back.

I would just drill out that heatsink IMO
