The other part of me says this: Why is it that there seem to be so many of those pr!cks? I mean, come on, do they need to say those things and be that awful towards others? Something tells me they have or have had a serious lack of proper guidance in life and suffer from a complete lack of respect. Sooner or later the real world is going to b!tch slap them in the face. In the mean time we still have to deal with the same people day in and out until you find a few good servers (which can be time consuming). Certainly not all of us have a circle of friends who game all the time. I game, but I also have a life outside of that. I guess just make the best of it and try and not let things bother you as much. In the end if the game is that displeasing due to some people that make it not enjoyable (insert virtually any Xbox online game here) then don't play it unless it is with a good group of known friends. No one needs that kind of treatment or negativity. Try and be the person who gives people a helping hand and you might meet a nice group of people by doing so.
Ah... if only "real life" were that simple.
Of course, I have other "real" issues that make this small problem pale in comparison, however honestly, I am gamer that uses the game to get away from a bunch of the stress that RL can create, but dealing with these online losers really just takes alot of the "healing factor" of the games away.
Thank you very much for your opinions above. I've already noticed quite an improvement in my skills in versus mode... although I will not say that I've even come close to mastery of versus mode.... but I am getting better at it.
On a side note, something really weird happened last night. I was on a pickup team playing... and as the "infected" I was the #1 killer in most categories (Pretty much I worked the smoker and the hunter... although I still kinda suck as a tank... can't find the dayum players when I first spawn by getting lost in the map). Well, as a "survivor", my team would do stupid stuff like leave me behind when I risked my neck to go in and save their butts.
Several times, my teammates took off on me when I got a hunter/smoker off of them and then I got jumped by another hunter and they didn't come back for me. Then, in one map I got hooked by a smoker and they initiated a "kick vote" on me... Through the mic I told the team... Look, I'm trapped back here stuck on a wall and you want to kick me? What is up with that? Now granted, we were on the Mercy level, part 3 (where you walk around the construction site) and I kept bumping into the walls and getting hung up on them.... quite frustrating.
Either way, ultimately the vote failed as the team gave me a chance after talking to them, but still... I found it quite annoying for someone to have initiated the kick vote based on that. On the other team, there was a "team killer" who got kicked, but that action was justified.
Seriously, you might be right... I must be playing with a bunch of pre-teen kids here. I dunno... I'm probably old enough to be their parent.
Sadly, I really do enjoy this game, but these silly players really do limit the fun I can have in this game. /sigh
