Did you uninstall the old display driver first? Or did you just run the installer after you downloaded the driver? Also, did you make sure you got the Vista 32 bit driver and not the 64 bit? I would try uninstalling through programs and features first in the control panel then reboot. I would recommend using driver cleaner at that point.

Once you have finished with driver cleaner reboot once more then try install the new drivers again.
