question about overvolting a CPU

Thread Starter
So currently I'm running my Q6600 at 3.6ghz with 1.5V (1.49vid according to CPUZ). I wanted to know if its a bad thing to run my chip above the specified limit? The max voltage is supposed to be 1.5V. If I were to run at 1.6V (assuming my temps are ok and it's stable) will I have any problems?

yes your chip will degenerate over time dont do it unless you want to kill your chip

You shouldn't run it that far above the recommended voltage. The OC of 3.6 is very nice, I wouldn't try to push more out of it.

3.6 stable for a Q6600 is a nice OC.

Yeah, 3.6 isn't a bad overclock. I'd just leave it at that speed.
