SLI help!

Thread Starter
Hey,

I currently have the XFX nVIDIA 9600GT [OC] Edition which i bought about 3 weeks ago now.

I want to go SLI, but i found the same card for slightly cheaper, there is a few by XFX and a few by other subvenders, however they arent the OC editions (my one has a factory core of 600mhz) and looks the same as a XXX edition aesthically (the normal 9600gt has a full cover, whereas mine only has a small plate on the GPU core, and fan) if you get me?

Will i be able to SLI these up if they arent the EXACT same? and while im on this topic, would this work in SLI?

- 9600gt + 9800gt
- 9600gt + 8800gts

or any other 'good' cards? or does it have to be a 9600gt

Thanks.

There are rare exceptions for "mixed SLI" configurations on some cards that only have a matching core codename (e.g. G70, G73, G80, etc), but this is otherwise not possible.
In cases where two cards are not identical, the fastest card – or the card with more memory - will run at the speed of the slower card or disable its additional memory. (Note that while the FAQ still claims different memory size support, the support has been removed since revision 100.xx of Nvidia's Forceware driver suite.)
So looks like you probably have to use the same cards.
