Yeah except NVIDIA has 10s of other copies to at least try to get working?

ATI has one version for each month and the occasional beta release.

I have my share of problems too but I have the availability of like 5 versions that are made in the past month or so that I can use.

Just yesterday I updated to 180.84 beta 1 and COD4 was constantly crashing, I had the choice to get 180.84 beta 3 or 180.43 WHQL, or hell, even 180.44beta - there was also a 180.74 release.

The review did say they didn't have a problem which is nice but there have been so many people here with problems on these drivers it makes me sad that ATI can't get their software right because they really are doing good with their GPUs and Graphics cards. IMO lackluster software support keeps me away from them at this particular time (since I had my 8800's)
Nvidia has it's own share of people who experience problems with drivers. I hope you realize that.

These drivers have been running great for me. No crashes or anything as of yet and Crysis warhead seems a tad faster.

XFreeRollerX, Ati driver are not bad at all. the thing is that you have to find what is best for you. For me all the CAT work fine excluding 8.12 which i think it was because i could handle huge overclock with my 4850 pass 1200Mhz mem.

Hmm...well let's see, i've been using 8.8:
Ran CCleaner and manually removed ATI components w/ regedit

rebooted

Installed 8.12 manually via cmd

rebooted

Played about 2 hours of TF2

Performance gains? Fraps reports pretty much the same FPS *maybe a little better*, but RivaTuner shows that my GPU is running a little bit cooler...

Not a single Install issue...
No BSODs...

I'd say 8.12 is good enough to install

XP x64 has the exact same 32-bit capabilities as Vista x64 and anybody that tries to tell you otherwise is dead wrong. Hell, it uses the exact same 32-bit emulation layer as Vista x64, WoW64.

These drivers are just a tad hyped. But they work flawlessly and problem-free for me, so no complaints.

yes, but one could argue as to why they need so many revisions? Its certainly not so they can release their next new feature. Some people have problems, others don't, but not every problem pertains to the driver, but rather the OS, or a different faulty program or driver, or excessive overclocking, and so on. Little shortsighted to say everything is fixed with a driver upgrade which nvidia has so many more of

I'll say again though for those just joining the thread, apart from the increased crash frequency (either way, it stilled crashed with 8.11), my FPS has gone up a bit in different games, so definitely a good driver for gamers

Apparently its the driver support for Vista 64 that is better - not 32bit emulation.

And guys - As I clearly stated and someone outline in red, its what I think.

In some other's view I am probably the biggest popous jackass in the world but with my setups Ive had, ATI has given me trouble where NVIDIA has at least given me better fixes.

Not to say that one company > another company...... (although thats probably what i did say....

maybe i should just take a seat in the back row before I get burned
