he's got a point, who the hell is actually going to use more than 3-4 driver versions without finding a stable one ?

seriously, if you need tens of driver versions to find a good one i'd say your system has far more problems than just driver instability

I guess I'll have to install these drivers when I get home early Monday morning and run that WiC benchmark again.

It would be a good idea that all those people with BSODs, bad installs etc do the following things:

-Back to stock speeds
-ALWAYS remove previous driver, always use unintall/remove.
-Keep trash off of computer (virus/trojan/spyware)

None of the ATI drivers ever gave me a headache. Always installed without a hitch. Just follow the basic no-brainers when you do any driver updating.

I've had more nvidia bsods than ati ones. By a long shot. However you don't see me running around in prominent nvidia threads being a jackass and putting forth my undesired input that's hardly a good objective view point. Excuse me/us if we find point fanboyary annoying and flameworthy. I also shake my head at all these people with driver. Problems on both sides. Probably 90% of the time the 'driver problem' is specific to the one persons OS and installed programs hardware. That's why I don't constantly whine about drivers. Unless the drivers are like creatives, then there is nothing to complain about

The review did say they didn't have a problem which is nice but there have been so many people here with problems on these drivers it makes me sad that ATI can't get their software right because they really are doing good with their GPUs and Graphics cards. IMO lackluster software support keeps me away from them at this particular time (since I had my 8800's)
Seriously ATI drivers are better than nvidia's... Ive had way more BSOD's with my 8800 than my 4870. In fact i haven't had a BSOD or ANY problems with my ATI card or the drivers! Ive seen you in a few threads now moaning and saying how bad ATI drivers are.. When really nvidia drivers have their fair share of problems to. For me ATI drivers have been far better than nvidia.

I am pleased with the 8.12's. Particularly in COD WAW, framerates have increased.

Considering I'm the Forum Director for Nvidia, I am quite familiar with their drivers. I was able to mod their driver subsets for quite some time as well.

The ATI drivers are neither better nor worse than Nvidia. I find the ATI drivers to be very stable but they can be a bugger to install properly.

The Nvidia drivers tend to install easily but give a higher frequency of issues in day to day use.
