Will this work in dual channel..

Thread Starter
I was stupid and ordered 3 1 gig sticks of this memory, and realized it messed up my dual channel. vista memory score went to 4.6 from 5.9, Im wondering If i can buy a 2gig stick and run it dual channel with one of my 1gig sticks and have it work.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161182

So basically.. a 2gig stick and a 1gig stick. Will that run dual channel and still give me a 5.9 rating?

Sorry that won't work. You can run 2x1GB and 2x2GB in dual channel as long as the timings are the same, but you can't have mixed sizes in the same channel.

No I doubt that will work, more than likely it will cause problems, otherwise itll just run 3 gigs, but not dual channel.

It's not as simple as same company/same timings. The memory should also have the same ICs and the same eproms. Without the memory being exactly the same there's a good chance it won't work in dual channel. That's why the memory manufacturers sell "kits" consisting of matched memory modules.

it will work, thats how I am running mine in 64 bit vista it will run in dual channel non symetric whereas if you had 4X2 gig sticks it would run in dual channel symetric.
