question regarding a vram heatsink on a 4850

So I put a xigmatek battle-axe ( http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-battleaxevd964.php ) on my sapphire 4850. Temps are nice and cool now (core idles at 32c, memory idles at 36c or 37c and shader is in between those two.). Core reaches 47c with ati-tool for 20 minutes. Memory gets up to around 58c. there is one thing that bothers me though. At the end of the installation, there was one heat-sink left over (attached picture).

Where would that go? +rep for help

Can you post a picture of your card as it is now?

I think that heatsink is for the VRMs...and is fairly important....also the 4850 does not have memory temp. sensors...I think you are referring to the MEMIO temp sensor which is a location on the GPU. 58C is pretty good and you should have nothing to worry about there.

The VRMs definitely need cooling though, especially if you are overclocking.

Agreed with Gurusan, it may be the heatsink for the VRM. On an aftermarket cooler you usually have these components: GPU HSF, memory heatsinks and VRM heatsinks (which rarely fits, but it's there). For the HD48x0 cards the VRM heatsink is important, by running without one you risk a power-circuitry meltdown.

Sorry guys fell asleep. As far as posting a pic of the card as it is now, the big heatsink + fans block almost everything except the end of the card (not the end with dvi ports). I hope a picture of a bare 4850 with the parts that I have heat-sinks on circled will suffice. I haven't found any holes that the two little spring push in things on the remaining heat-sink would fit into.

if you have heatsinks on everything that's circled you are fine.
