Q6700 Safe to run 4GHz @ 1.496v?

Thread Starter
I have this Q6700 for awhile, so I decide to hit it up to 4Ghz. Here is the link. I use 1600x10 with 1.496v[CPU-z]. This is the first time I hit 4Ghz, and I have try lower vcore, but I guess it will just be .01 difference.

I haven't stress it yet, cuz I don't know if @ 1.496v is ok to stress or not. I know the Max vcore for 65nm processor is 1.5v. I wanna ask if using 1.5v to run the system 12 hours a day and everyday, will the processor die fast? Lets say the temp about 30c and 50% CPU usage.

Thanks all.
I'm so happy today.

Stress it already, 1.55v is the absolute max as stated by Intel.

Lifespan at that voltage, who knows.
Hope it's stable at that vcore, would be nice.

i would say its ok, my E2140 needs as much as yours and its been a year or so running with that vcore, idle at 1.5v load at 1.456v,.. just watch ur temps since i never get above 60c when load,.. i know its dual core but has the same tech that is 65nm

thats a very nice clock u have on that chip, if its stable

1.55v? I thought I was 1.5v. Where did u find the info? Did intel release it with the 90c TJMax document?

IDK, is it really worth it for the extra speed? Personally I would back it down since the max is suppose to be 1.5V but even 3.8 would probably be a bit safer. Your just decreasing the lifespan for little or no performance gain. Thats just my personal opinion. I would use that clock every now and then for short burst but not 24/7 use.

It's in here, under the electrical specs.

that voltage is perfectly fine to run 24/7 you could go even higher for benches. just make sure you have adequate cooling and your temps arent hitting above 65C load for long term use because heat will kill a cpu just as fast as voltage.

No there's a difference between the max voltage range that Intel posts on their processor finder and what is listed under the Absolute Minimum and Maximum voltage section of the tech sheet.

1.55 is the "absolute maximum".

Is intelburntest an accurate stress program? Cuz prime95 takes too long.

I run 1.6vcore for daily folding use..but Im on water. I might be hesitant about anything much over ~1.45vcore on air..unless benching..you will be much more a victim to the internal case temps, than ambients..so take that into consideration when testing and watching temps.
