q6600 @ 3.2ghz temps?

post #1 of 15
Thread Starter
hey guys ive upped from 3.0ghz to 3.2 but had to bang 1.4375v on my vcore to get 100% stable no errors

but i noticed a hugh increase in idle and load temps!

went from 29c/32c idle 44c load to 38c idle 52c under load bear in mind this is 8 hours into prime 95!

is 52c under load good or should i get a second fan onto my true but in doing that i need to change the way the true is seated due to my 12v connector being in the way when i stick a second fan on its really hard to get the fan clips in place

idea's and suggestions welcome i noticed i got the same temps at stock using the stock intel fan i.e 38/39c idle 52/54c under load so i know it cant be that bad i just dont know the tollerence of the q6600 :-/

52C under load isnt bad IMO
adding a second fan usually doesnt make a big difference usually 1-2C
what kind of fan do you have on it right now?

its got a blue led silent thermalright fan 47cfm normal operation 63.7cfm full speed i think it is still its 10x better than my old blue orb 2 i used to load @ 59c @ 3.0ghz i got told i could use a super strong 120+cfm fan but they scream im finally getting used to having a dead quiet pc and my motherboard temp has dropped massivly from 39c to 32c etc...

ah so you want to keep your pc quit huh.
well you could try buying a Sans Ace Fan like this one :
http://www.petrastechshop.com/12x38sadesan.html

they blow tons of air and i hear there pretty quite.
i just bought two the other day for my TRUE and case Intake

your good - 52C isn't bad for air by any measure. Max operating temps are arround 70C, it would be wise to stay below 60 though.

^nice got a uk link lol + will hunt for the fans just to try them out i did get advised by thermalright as i got my true direct from them to use lower cfm fans because of the way the fins on the true's use the airflow to there advantage @ stock i was idling at 23/24c until the heating went on then it was 26c = 35c under load but i do have an extremely low vid 1.1500 lol

emitz thanks for the info +

I use 2 fans on my 120 and it helped nothing when idle but at maxload the core temps went down about 5c.

Also today I got some artic siler 5 thermal paste on instead of the paste that came with the heatsink and my core temps dropped alot.

max load = 63-62-61-61
Idle = 37-35-34-34

Artic silver 5
max load = 50-50-49-49
idle = 31-30-27-27

well on my zalman, i have about 38c idle, and about 60c load at 3.2 ghz.

what i do is lower my voltage until it isnt stable anymore, than i up it one notch. also try lowering your fsb voltage as well.
