I'm interested to see if the web servers you can run through homebrew are always on or just when you have them open thus disabling access to everything else.

What version of the Wii's OS are you on? My wife ran the update the other day so it is now the lastest version and from my understanding if you have the most recent update you can not home Homebrew/Wiibrew...

I am running the most recent version of the OS. I don't know if i am lucky or if is is because I install the homebrew channel first, but it still works.

It's because you installed the homebrew channel first. Once it's in it can't be removed, unless you delete it on your own.

Firmware 3.4:

You can install the homebrew channel with the latest build of the Twilight Hack. Use build 2. However, the updated firmware disasbles installing wads, changing certain IOS files, playing DVD's, etc.

There is an IOS downgrader that you can use to have 3.4 firmware, but act like you are on 3.2/3.3

Firmware 3.3 and below:

Just use the normal Twilight Hack and you can still do everything normally. No tweaking like you have to do with above firmware.

I know that wasn't detailed, but I am in a car typing this, so cut me some slack.

Most of us Wii owners with homebrew won't recommend upgrading to firmware past 3.2 yet but i am happy without it since i can still do everything except for wii shop. The channel has some good features, but i don't recommend using it to watch DVDS since the laser is quite weak and i think it should just be used to be playing games. Although using mPlayer you can play music / media off usb flash drives. The wii webserver is usable but u would have to leave it doing that one application all the time.

Personally i dun think upgrading to 3.4 is worth the upgrade yet. but upgrading to the newest version of the homebrew channel is good.
