HEy, i was just wondering what cpu would be better for gaming, im not that into multitasking etc etc, and i wanted to get the quad core q9550, i currently have the E8400. All i want to know, what cpu would be better for general high demanding gaming, and also, i dont want to be overclocking (much ), i just want to know, which would be better, The E8400 @ 3.00GHz stock, or the Q9550 @ 3.0GHz Oc from 2.83GHz.

Q9550
# Core: Quad Core
# L2 Cache Size: 12 MB
# Front Side Bus Speed: 1333 MHz

From what you said about what you want to use the CPU for (gaming), stick with what you have for now. Just OC the E8400 to 3.8GHz (easy to do) and use it until it doesnt meet your expectations for gaming.

Q9550 @ 3Ghz no doubt. You've gotta double the cache as well and 2 more cores if you ever decide to play a game while running other apps in the background However, if you ever decide to oc, the E8400 will oc more, upwards of ~4Ghz on air cooling which will give more performance in games that aren't quad core optimization. Games that are quad core optimized are Supreme Commander, UT3, FC2, GTAIV and Lost Planet
