So i got about half way through it all and can't play anymore. I contacted steam as well, with no resolve. So im S.O.L. which means no more DRM games for me. I'll pirate a game before I get ripped for $50 again and only get to play half of it.
There must have been more installs than that or someone is using your key. You should contact Ubisoft and request a new key. I am trying not to get too worked up here not being able to play my legally purchased game and all so I will wait to write off DRM for now.

FC2 sucks. I installed it once, got tired of its unplayability and crashing to desktop and chalked that $50 up to stupidity on my part for not waiting to see what others said about it. Should have saved my money and bought left 4 dead. now it sits on a shelf collecting dust because i cant even sell it for half its initial cost.

and i still dont have L4D

Yeah it certainly wasn't worth $50 but I was getting some enjoyment out of it and it had been running just fine with the upgrades.

And this is why I fight DRM the hardest way I can.

I only have FC2 because I got it free with my video card

But how exactly does someone fight DRM without risking crapware/viruses/malware/keyloggers/rootkits? I'd be on board for sure if I could avoid that crap.

The obvious way to fight it would be to stop buying games that have DRM. That doesn't mean that pirateing games just because they have DRM will teach anyone a lesson though.

I think high profile backlash like what Spore recieved will also be helpful. There is no way EA is able to believe internally that they didn't lose a whole lot of sales due to their DRM.

*SmasherBasher: I was very disappointed in FC2 at first but went back and tried it two or three weeks later and it was at least somewhat enjoyable. The first impression is very underwhelming though.

if i ever get far cry 2, it'll be for the level editor, that's all.

i'll probably just use it for machinima set-making.
