I am going to argue that corsair is better than pc power and cooling (even though they are the same OEM, CWT). PC P & C's cables aren't entirely sleeved, and the 80mm exhaust only. I like honeycomb shield at the back because it looks nicer and probably disperses the heat better than the 80mm x 80mm exhaust

can anyone else recommend the q9300 over the q6600? i know the q6600 is better at ocing...

and thanx for the psu, better than the corsair
post #13 of 39
Dont get a Q9300 the multi is too low to get a good oc and the L2 cache is smaller. The build looks good I second the 640gb WD. Get a PCP&C psu or another highend brand. Also look at the Noctua 120 cooler it is only $14 after MIR

(with the corsair, if you have the fan pointing up, the wires exit the supply right next to the window, so you have to run them across the bottom if your case to get to your hole in the motherboard tray, but with the PC P&C you can flip it over and have the wires exit the supply right next to your tray)

Yeah, the q9300 has a lower chache(just a little bit lower) so if you'd OC'd the q6600 alot then it would be better to go with that(q6600).

The newer Q6600 doesnt OC as well. They are averaging 3.4GHz to 3.5GHz. I would expect the Q9300 to OC higher with the UD3P's 500+ FSB as mentioned ealier.

However, if you can pick up a used proven Q6600 OCer, it would be a better choice.

The performance on this drive is very impressive. The platter design is far better then those used in the 500 GB drive you are looking at.
I also recommend the WD 640GB, in benchmarks it has been shown to be one of the fastest mechanical HDD's in the world (except for things like the new Raptors, etc.) and I can tell you from personal experience that it is lightning-quick.
