Well to be honest...

Why not RMA the board.....Get the RMA'd Board back.....And then decide?

Your present board is compatible with the Phenom II's w/ BIOS F6 ( I have that same board on one of my Phenom 9850 Black rigs). I was able to OC my 9850 on the gigabyte board to 3.468ghz ( it's not a bad board).

That part i'm not sure on (each company is different) all of my RMA's thru different companies have taken 1-2 weeks, but i have never had to do an RMA with gigabyte.

But it sounds like you really would like that 790GX board (It is a nice Board by the way.... So then I would say go ahead and get it.

But I would also say Get the new Board and RMA your old one and then either keep it incase the new board fails or Just try to sell it and make some money back.

RMA your current board, and buy a good SB750 790GX or FX so that you are fully prepared for the Phenom II.
You can get a killer deal on the Foxconn A79A-S at the moment. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186149
It took an Agena Phenom to 4Ghz on LN2.

I recommend the Foxconn Board

They have great customer and tech Support (the best that I have ever dealt with).

I havent had any problems with my Foxconn Destroyer....But I contacted Foxconn about Possible Bios updates (things that I would like to see and or have). The result is more than likely Some of my thoughts will be in future BIOS's.

They even sent me some Beta drivers/programs to test and give feed back on AWESOME support.
