mobo for my 260gtx

Thread Starter
Which mobo should I take for my 260GTX 216CORE, Q9550.

XFX 780i 3-Way SLI
or
ASUS Maximus ll Formula P45?

both cost the same, I won't make Dual gpu (SLi\\CF) just upgrade my gpu at some point. (well maybe I will but 3 precents )

which one will gimme better overclock performance?

The Maximus will be alrite with 260gtx?

Just go with the P45 as long as youre not going CF/SLI, SLI is all that nvidia mobo's are good for, and that doesnt even matter anymore with i7 mobo's.

Go with the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. It will OC better then any motherboard you can think of. It is pushing 500+ FSB with quads.

I find myself posting this a lot around here:

Here is Robilar's thread with links to XS:

I wanted to get to cold benching this weekend, but have the flu, so that might need to wait til next week unless I can at least muster enough energy to drop the single stage on it. Picking up DI or LN2 tomorrow isn't likely at this point, but I'll post results when I get them.

Here is a quad core at 500 FSB

Closest stable was 490x9 with the MIIF. I've only had 1 BSOD with this board and it only took an hour for the beginnings of an oustanding OC session.
This is what i call FUN! I've booted into windows at 533X8 only to get my 1 and only BSOD after 10-15 seconds.
That was with no extra voltage over what i'm running now. I'll be checking for max FSB Next.

Thanks to napalm for some bios settings.
