Is this a decent kit? I'm only looking to cool the CPU. It's a Q6600 at 3.6Ghz, 1.525v. Would the load temperatures be better than if I were to use a TRUE and a moderatly powerful fan (70CFM)?

Yeah, i know it's a kit. But this is going to be my first watercooling setup and I would like to be eased in to the experience and use a ready made loop and instructions specific to those parts.

I'd have to say unlikely. At best they would be on par and of course the TRUE is cheaper.

Could you recommend a kit that would beat the TRUE while being decently priced?

Hopefully one of the UK watercooling wiz's will provide you a response. Petra's here has decent kits (they put parts together and bundle it).

Hmm. Does petra ship to the UK?

Well the H20-220 seems like a good kit.. I just want something different from the usual heatsinks. I would have prefered to have clear tubing but I guess I could always buy replacements later on?

Thats the great thing with the H20-220, its a great starter kit, because teh components are pretty good quality, so you can just add to it as you get more obsessed.

Awesome. I'm really exited about going water

Also, i would probably take my PC downstairs into the kitchen to install and test the kit. Is it safe to bring it back upstairs with all the liquid in? I mean it's gonna be heavy so it would be swaying around quite a bit. Nothing will get damaged?

Ive had this kit now for 3 days and it piss's over any air cooler, reviews ive seen on this kit say it performs on par with kits costing over twice as much.

Ive seen reviews were its put up against other kits and it comes out the winner.

To the OP : I got the full XSPC V3 kit for £73 including VAT and delivery.

Almighty, does any liquid dye come with the XSPC kit?

Yea, transport it as much as you want.

Great thing about the H220-220 is that the pump in the pump/cpu block combo is a DDC3.1. You can take off the base waterblock and solder one connection and turn it into a DDC 3.2 and buy a pump top for it and upgrade the CPU block.

Awesome. If i wanted to later on could I swap out the tubing for a clear set? I want to see some green bug juice

You get anti-corosive additive included, its a very very nice kit and i was impressed by the quality of it and its performance.

My 5600+ X2 on air cooling idled @ ~34c

Water it idles at ~28c and thats with the central heating on, in the morning when the house is cold i get idle temps as low as 18c

Water has knocked nearly 20c of my load temps aswel.

My old air cooler was a Zalman CNPS9500, so it was by no meens a 'cheap' cooler.

And it has the new V3 Delta water block and you try and find one bad review about this CPU block, because i cant

The problem with the XSPC kit is the rad - a 120 is not quite enough for a heavily overclocked quad. Swap out the rad for a 220 and it should be fine. Still prefer the H20-220 though.

Would a set of printed instructions be included with this kit?

It says they don't have the D-Tek waterblock in stock at the moment so I have to use the Apogee GTZ. is this a better waterblock?

Yes it is.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about instructions being in the H20 220 kit, not the D4 kit. I don't think Petras sends guides with their kits. But us watercooling dudes will be happy to help you out.

#25 ·
Yeah they do send out a guide i just read in the kit details. I wonder if it's just a generic one or specific to that kit?

Also, it doesn't list any coolant.. so i'm presuming i'd need to order that serperatly?

Add £22 for a 240 rad, still cheaper then the H20 kit.
