Thread Starter
my friend just bought a new computer and he is having some problems deciding the gfx card
his budget is 10k INR
in this three cards were offered to him
ati radeon HD4850 (dont know much about this except that is 513 gddr3)

zotac 9800gt (said it was slightly oced)
sparkel 9600gt (stock settings)

he will most likely be going to purchase the card tomorrow

what suggestion would you give him interms of which card to buy ?

he has bought the computer with the following specs
intel c2q 6600
gigabyte Ep43-s3l mobo
zion 2*2 gb ddr2 ram
cm 500w smps
19" viewsonic lcd monitor

he will only be using the computer for 3D animations and gaming(he is a fan of crysis and really wants to play it)

wow.. thanks for the speedy reply..
there are few thigs that i failed to mention.

that particular card, according to my friend had only a small fan with a heat sink.
i guess it is not one of those coolers that covers the entire gfx.. would this make any kind of difference ? or are those half coolers just as effective as those full coolers?

there are quite a lot of designs, and its sort of hard to give an answer without knowing exactly which cooler you are talking about.

as effective, it's just that the fan is directly on the cars, won't make any difference, though it will blow air into the case, and not outside of it, so you might consider other choises I suggest IceQ 4850 FTW

They do run a bit hot, but they are designed to. As long as the cooler is what the card was build with (and not duck-taped on) then it should be fine.

Is it this particular 4850?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102770

If so, that fan is more than adequate

If it has this kind of fan
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127359

Then he may want to turn the fan speed up a tiny bit. It's very quiet at stock, but it also runs pretty hot because of that
