Cooling 4850

Thread Starter
I recently put both my 4850s on water and added ramsinks. However, I don't know what to use to cool the remaining components that the stock cooler covered. My ramsinks don't fit at all. I'm considering cutting off the back of the stock cooler, but would rather leave it intact if possible. Any suggestions for aftermarket options?

I chopped the back of my stock cooler off. You could do that, but then you're screwed if you have to RMA your card.

On the other hand you can go get some more ramsinks to cover the VRM's

ZeroTherm has a kit with most of the pieces you normally run out of...

It should work well for your needs.

Looks good. Will anything cover the eight mosfets? That's all I have left to deal with.

if you had the reference single slot card you can use the original heatsink's part.

RAMsinks worked fine for me. I reccomend you don't chop up the stock cooler. Having a warranty is kinda useful.

Well the only way to use ramsinks, at least the kind I have, is to put one on for each of the four mosfets. You only cover about half of their surface that way, however.

The ones I had fitted across all four perfectly. I would agree, you want full coverage - don't want any hot-spots.

Maybe I'll pick up some that have a little more surface area.
