Hell her little core 2 with a built in mobile ATI graphics in her crappy dell lappy can handle new world content at high settings. not sure what your issue is.

Auld... i love your thinking! haha now if only i didnt just blow a WHOLE lot of money on my rig. I just updated it. Got a 9850 BE, new asus board with new AMD sb/nb chipset, 2 HD 4850s two new HDDs, two rads, a pump, tubing, fans, cpu water block, 2 vga water blocks, 24" monitor (on the way) and 4gbs of ddr2 1066 corsair, oh yeah and my new 750watt psu... oh and then the new case too hahaha

Thank you all for the help i really appreciate it.

btw way... this is an AMD GENERAL discussion... i DO appreciate the comments as i did ask for best buget rig, really keep the biased opinions for intel to the INTEL boards... lets all act like adults and enjoy!!
I am not alone in my experience.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...29372874&sid=1

Furthermore, the best budget rig is an Intel one. The X2 is a crappy CPU compared to the Wolfdale series and that is that. Good day to you.

Guessing you didn't go to the new continent? My computer gets better FPS in Crysis than in WoW at times.

This is in the new city at non-peak hours. It's almost empty!

If this is a pic from your current rig, you are kinda saying that your intel isn't that great. Games like WoW and CSS are CPU based. You can get better settings in Crysis b/c it's a GPU focused game. Shoot, I'll drop down on some maps in CSS to 40 sometimes just b/c it's more CPU based...not to mention Vista doesn't help either. In this case, the fault lies w/in the game.

I know. Hence why a Wolfdale would be much better.

To be honest I think you should get the E5200 with a 500-600 dollar budget. You have to admit that it is better or on par with the best x2 CPU. Another thing i don't get is if you can get the HD4830 or better then why not? It may prevent an upgrade if your wife moves on to another game and it will give her better frames.

Yes i know this is in the AMD section but we are just advising you to go Intel because it wins in raw performance. The only time i would use AMD is probably when i need a $300 dollar build.

Here is my suggested build:

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116072 E5200 $83
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148212 2x2Gb $38
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128345 GA-EP45-DS3L $85
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703005 PCP&cooling 610w $60
HDD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136149 500gb $60
Case: You choose 100$
DVD Burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106263 $20
GFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143154 $100
Mouse: $50 anything e.g MX518, G5, Razer Deathdder, Copperhead

Total: 596

If you Insist on an AMD/ATI build then here it is:

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103272 6000+x2 $76
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148212 2x2Gb $38
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131324 ASUS M3A78-EM $79
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703005 PCP&cooling 610w $60

GFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121289 Asus HD4830 $100

Thread Starter
its funny how everyone who mentioned a AMD build are the only ones really who seem to get it. SO, let me say one more time..

IM NOT LOOKING FOR PERFORMANCE!!! I'm looking for general use, with the OCCASIONAL WoW playing. She doesn't play too much, just every once in a while. I chose the 4650 because its a good and solid mid-rang card and a nice low price. How ever givin that most micro atx boards come with onboard vid, ill prolly use that for now to shave to price and get her going quicker.

Thank you to everyone!

The 5600+ should be plenty for her, especially since she probably won't be overclocking. - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103234

This Gigabyte mobo should also be more than enough for her needs. All solid capacitors for durability, and 140W support - Just in case.

The 4630 should be good enough. Here's a 4830 though, since I don't know exactly how much you wanted to spend on the gpu.

And finally, the power supply. $39.99 after MIR, Free shipping, and a single 12v rail with 32A's. You can't go wrong with PC Power & Cooling.

In the memory department I'd get these G.Skills. Really good price for DDR2 1000, and Free Shipping as well.

Good luck!

Sorry I don't have links, but here's what I'm thinking:

AMD 5200+ (at least)
2x2GB RAM (I like mushkin tbh, but still go with 4 gigs regardless of OS)
ATI HD 4830 (as said before, will save you money down the line from having to upgrade)
Asus, Gigabyte, or Biostar mobo (I've had good experiences w/ Biostar and Gigabyte. Get AM2+)
Antec 300 (Don't know if you need a case, but it's 50 bucks)

EDIT: (Sorry for being lazy, here we go)

Gigabyte mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128081 ($79)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103272 ($76)

ATI HD 4830:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102803 ($115)

Mushking 2x2GB RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146726 ($67)

Antec 300 (JIC):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=antec%20300 ($50)

PSU (Corsair 650/ Will be more than plenty):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 ($100)

Total: $486
