CPU/Bios Settings/OC E8400 to 4.0GHz

Thread Starter
Ok, so I want to overclock my Intel E8400 3.0GHz to 4.0GHz or possible higher on a thermaltake big typhoon air cooler. And are there any tools or somethings, that I can use to make my overclock stable so i know if I need to change my voltages etc. I have Pheonix Award Bios on a xfx nForce 780i motherboard.

Currently I have these options disabled in bios>>

Limit CPUID MaxVal
Intel speedstep
CPU thermal control
C1E enhanced Halt state
Execute Disable Bit
Virtualization Technology

And i have these 2 options enabled

CPU internal cache
apic mode

Which of these options should be enabled/ disabled for best performance?

Also i have all options under **Spread Spectrum Setting** disabled, is that how it is supposed to be?

Memory is @ 800MHz but when i bought it it said 1066, timings for 800MHz are 5-5-5-18-2T and when i put it up to 1066 they were 5-7-7-24-2T

Voltages are:

CPU Core - 1.21V
CPU FSB - 1.1V
Memory: - 1.850V
nForce SPP - 1.30V
nForce MCP - 1.500V
HTnForce SPP <-> MCP - 1.20V

thanX

download prime95

run small FFT tests for AT LEAST an hour, unless it fails before that, that will show you if it's stable
that program runs a stress test to check the stability and it must pass all the tests to be completely stable

o and just do some manual overclocking, and bump up the CPU's speed a little bit at a time til it becomes unstable
