Not 100% sure if this is the right section, sorry if its not.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just wondering which rig would be better for gaming.

Rig 1:
Q6600 2.4Ghz Fsb1066 8MB Quad Core
Asus Arctic Square CPU Fan
Asus P5N-D Motherboard (dual video cards SLI)
4GB DDR II 800 nVidia SLI RAM(2GBx2)
2x BFG NVIDIA GEFORC 8800 GT OC2 675MHz (vs. 600MHz standard)
Seagate 500GB SATA 3GB 7200RPM 32MB(ST3500320AS)
550 Watt Safe Power Dual Fan Power Supply

Rig: 2
Q6600 G0 @ 3.0ghz
Tuniq tower 120
Gigabyte DS3L
2GB OCZ PC2-6400
Evga 8800GTX
1TB (1000GB) = 2x500GB Seagate 7200.10
Silverstone 650W Zeus

Thanks for all the help.

Neither.

Reason, if youre just doing gaming, get a E8xxx

SLI ram is a joke and isnt necessary,

never heard of safe power, do whatever you can to get a corsair psu.

4870 all the way.

Never go with a asus or cm cpu cooler, tuniq 120 or tt120 are still the best, as well as a scythe or two.

Rig 1 looks like the better candidate, though a single OC'ed 8800GTX will outperform 8800GTs in SLI as resolutions higher than 1680x1050.

I'd replace the PSU quickly and the CPU heatsink then get to OCing that Q6600!!
At long last...

That isn't true.

the 8800gt sli will outperform the single gtx even in 1920x1080

Rig 1. But I don't know if a 550w power supply will be enough to overclock a lot.

how well does ur rig play games?
it seems to be the same as my Rig 2.
except you got a 4870.. and i could possibly upgrade to one of those
post #10 of 18
I've only got a 4850 and I have enough power but 2 8800gt's in sli will work but it's kind of pushing it in my opinion.
