What Brand and Where to Buy Paint? - Page 2

I actually might beat CattleRustler to one......he's going to recommend Rust-Oleum Universal. And for good reason. If you look at his project (The Intelligence), that was all done with the stuff. Personally, I like to raise the ante and use automotive paint.
In fact, I plan to do another mod this summer most likely with some good quality automotive paint.
You can go to Autozone or Pep Boys or your favorite local parts store and get auto touch up paint. But you're going to need a lot of it and it isnt cheap. It's like $7 or $8 for a 5 oz can. But once you use it, you know where the money went. Professional results. Just remember, a paint job is only as good as its prep work.

What brand, type of paint, ect would you recommend for automotive paint? That's looking a bit expensive , but maybe I can find a better price on it.

For the automotive paint, I use either Duplicolor or Plastikote. You can go full-on and use an air compressor and a gun and all that or you can spend way less coin and get the same results from a rattle can. The best part is, you can find a car of which color you really like and color match it. Duplicolor has always been so close in their color matches, that I cannot tell the difference.
Here is an example of a car I used to have. You tell me which is paint from the Ford plant and which is the Duplicolor.

If you cannot spot it, I will give you a clue (it will be a fairly large clue) in the morning.

The Fusion series says it doesn't need sanding or priming, but shouldn't I sand and apply Adhesion Promoter? The only one I could find was duplicolor, but will it work?
Clear coat for everything
Will these paints be very glossy?
I found the krylon fusion, indoor/outdoor, and clearcoat at Aceoutlet so hopefully they have it in stock at the store.
OK, so it looks like this stuff will work, but it might be more expensive than just krylon. Duplicolor is a great paint if you want to go that way, but it will get really expensive. I still say the best bet is krylon. They have a good quality paint.

I have used Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Acrylic primer and gloss paint, and Rustoleum Universal Acrylic gloss, both with great results. The rusto is higher build than the krylon, and the can can be sprayed at any angle, even upside down. Krylon is thinner and takes clear coat better, rusto uni gloss doesnt need clear coat. Regardless of the paint I used Krylon primer (grey)

Homed depot around here (3 of them) dont stock Krylon but they do stock rusto uni as well as other rusto lines. Krylon I bought at mom and pop ace hw

I found a guide to case painting that's an excerpt from a case modding book. Its really detailed and has lots of info. I compiled this list of necessary paint.
Krylon Fusion Patriotic Blue x 1- ACE? about $5
Krylon Indoor/ Outdoor True Blue x 2- ACE? about $10
Krylon Indoor/ Outdoor Primer x 2 1 black 1 gray- ACE? about $10
Krylon Clear Coat x 2- ACE? about $10
How many cans of each do I need?
