Some of the techniques yes but some are not going to apply to you because yours is metal and his is plastic and its a different prep process. But most of the things he covers in are for both surfaces. Just the preparation is different.

Reguarding what Spooky is talking about (the guide) He means that OCN would like you to keep it local here (as in posting something) as far as guides and references for how to's since most questions of how to's are covered by OCN at some point here.

Dont know if you saw this : I found one for you which doesnt require a clear so you can save money not buying clear coat. Although a clear will give better protection and have more depth. http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydep...emno=SEM+64103 .

You would need SEM scuff and clean for the plastic, you can nix the adhesion promoter if you really want. the scuff and clean will do up the plastic awesome and create a great surface for the paint to adhere to.

3 rolls of towels /// 5 tack rags //

For sand paper IMO I would go with but its just my 2 cents

80 grit - to strip off paint
220 grit -- to smooth and remove 80 grit scratches
400 grit -- primer sanding
600 grit -- primer sanding
1500 grit -- clear coat sanding
2000 grit -- clear coat sanding

Unless you have a buffing machine (dont know if you do ?) for the machine glaze I wouldnt recommend it.

Instead of machine glaze if you dont have a buffer: http://www.autobarn.net/mmm39007.html

Sweet, I don't have a machine buffer so that's great. Good that I now how many towels and rags to get. I'll get a few different sandpaper grits then. Is the 400 and/or 600 wet/dry? Can I use wet/dry sandpaper for most of the grits even if it's not required and if I don't use water with it? How many of each cans of paint do I need?

80/220 are dry and you can blow off the paper with a can of air when it gets clogged.
400 / 600 /1500 / 2000 are all wet/dry papers, If you dont use water it will clog up on you real quick and you wont be able to use it. Also it will cause deeper scratches than you want. It depends I would guess 2 cans for the inside. If you paint the back of the case and the two side panels and the plastic front piece and top. 3- 4 cans I suppose.

Remember to get SEM scuff and clean for the plastic if you paint it.

I'm leaving the back untouched, so I guess 3 cans each of base, primer, and clear coat for outside and 2 cans each of base and primer for inside. How many 11 x 9 sheets will I probably need when using an electric sander? 2 for each?

Ya 3 cans of each for the outside depending on how good your technique is and if when you sand assuming dont break through the previous coat LOL. If you see your self running low on paint when your doing it get 1 more can before the last can is gone so your not stuck without paint in the middle of spraying .

Electric sanders wear out paper quicker. I hand sanded mine . So I used a lot less. I dont recommend using a sander on the inside(to confined of a space for me) but you can try because it is faster way. . Usually they come in a packs like mine did 5 sheets a pack. I bought 1 pack of each grit and if I needed another pack I went to the store and got one. The most I used was 400 grit 2 packs of 5 sheets and 1500 grit 2 packs. All the rest of the grits I got away with 1 pack on my 900.

I even have left over paper almost enough for another case ..almost. Being that I didnt buy mine online it was easy to get more stuff if I ran low.
I just ran down to the store and got more

This is the sandpaper I used

I think I'll be using this sandpaper. No brand, but shouldn't it work fine?

EDIT: IT should be fine, I have never seen blue sandpaper for autopaint use before. For sanders, its yellow everywhere I go to buy mine. Dont know why its blue but it should work. I checked it and the seller says its for auto use and the like so if you trust it then get it.

Dont forget to get the SEM Scuff and Clean for the plastic, you use it after you clean it with the plastic prep solvent.
