Well can you find me a PERC raid card for use with 3 SATA drives in the UK by any chance?

I don't really understand this SAS stuff.

Anything less is either software or host-based RAID.
DuckieHo has a nice guide on the Dell PERC 5/i cards.

Here is one on eBay for $120:

Here is one with the battery backup unit for $130:

You'll find that most good controllers with a dedicated processor are going to cost between 200 and 1000 dollars. I wouldn't go any cheaper than 200 because they are probably not going to have a processor or buffer memory. I've had my Areca card for about a year now and it has great performance. It also went down in price recently. The only thing I've found about the Perc cards is some require a little modding to be correctly recognized.

All you need is an adapter (SAS-to-4xSata)

SAS is an extenstion of SATA. It does EVERYTHING that SATA does but more. That means it is downwards compatible with SATA as long as you have the right cables.
Once again...

Excellent, so does that mean any of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dell-PERC-5-E-...ayphotohosting

Will be a good choice to help me get the most out of my 3 new drives?

Also, are there any issues with that controller and Vista 64bit?

I don't suppose anyone can find me a PERC 5i card at all from the UK?
