[Help] Overclocking an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500

Thread Starter
First off I'd like to say hello, I'm new here and I'm hoping to learn from the best.

Ive tried all the tools(Rivatuner, the built in nvidia overclocking tool, and some other stuff) but I end with the same result. When I finish overclocking, whether its 1 mhz or 50mhz to either ram or gpu, it freezes at the windows xp welcome screen. Whats my problem here?

Here is my Gfx Card uploaded with GPU-Z:

And here is my cpu and some other information if needed:

Also:Could a failed overclock have to do with the power supply not putting out enough power?

Maybe with a higher-end card, but not yours. I agree with Stroker though, there's not much point in trying to overclock that card.

Because you're not going to get decent performance in any modern games even if you do overclock it.

I don't plan to play high intensive games, I just want to play the original halo and some 2d games fps lag free.

If you're not getting decent FPS now, a small overclock won't change anything.

You need to figure a budget for upgrading. Someone here may have something that would be beneficial for a good price.
