Need your help guys...

Thread Starter
Hello everyone, since it's my first post here I think i should introduce myself first.

My name is Michael and i live in belfast.

Ok, so last night I finished building my new rig except I'm still waiting for my new RAM. (Corsair Dominator pc-8500 2x2GB)

Today I decided to do some overclocking, I managed to get my Q9550 stable @ 3.6ghz with 1.3 on the vcore and 2.2 on my current OCZ tech. PC-6400 memory. Anything else on auto.

The problem seems to appear everytime i try to run some memory intensive application. Let's say I run Prime95 using small FFT and very little ram, it is 100% stable! but if i switch to large FFT + heavy RAM usage computer reboots immadietly. I tried numerous variations when it comes to memory voltage, nothing worked. I tried both, running ram at stock = 800mhz as well as keeping the ratio between ram-cpu the same. Still, nothing. Do you guys think the memory could be faulty? Is there a chance that the new memory will fix the issue?

Just to let you know, here's my computer's spec.

1000W Cooler Master Real Power Modular
Asus Maximus II Formula P45
Q9550
Thermalright Ultra Extreme black dual fan.
4gb ocz tech pc6400 (awaiting corsair pc 8500 which should be here tommorow)
Geforce gtx 280
750gb samsung spinpoint

I'll be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks!

P.S. if you're wondering about temps, the cpu won't go anywhere over 40c when overclocked @ 3.6ghz.

Look in your BIOS and see if you can up the voltage to the NB and/or FSB voltage.

Try testing you ram using memtest to see if your sticks can even run at their rated speeds. Try one stick at a time so you can easily pick out a faulty stick if that is the case.

Have you tried running the ram unlinked to the fsb? And as suggested up the NB voltage.

I testet both sticks, theyre ok. What's more, system was a bit more stable with one 2gb module, I'm sure I would be able to get it work 100% if i adjusted the voltages properly. Upping the nbridge had absolutely no impact.

The problem you're describing is resolved with all of the boards that I use, by increasing the NB voltage. Your board has a very advance BIOS. Can you fill these in so maybe we can give you more help.

Ratio CMOS setting =
CPU clock skew Delay =
Northbridge clock skew Delay =
FSB strap to northbridge =
DRAM frequency =
DRAM CLK skew Delay =
CPU voltage =
CPU PLL voltage =
FSB termination voltage =
DRAM voltage =
Northbridge voltage =
Southbridge 1.5 voltage =
Southbridge 1.1 voltage =
CPU GTL voltage =
Northbridge GTL voltage =
DDR2 Channel reference voltage =

Everything on auto except:

DRAM Frequency - 912mhz

CPU Voltage - 1.24v

DRAM voltage - 2.2v

Q9550 currently overclocked @3.23Ghz

If I set the FSB any higher than 380mhz pc reboots during memory intensive testing
