Nope. Mushkin Greg won't say the IC brand, but has said on Mushkin Forums, that the old XP 2x2GB and new XP Ascent use the same ICs...however, he insists that the EVCI spreaders add 10-20 MHz by their heat dissipation. I think it's crap as the Powerchips don't run hot to begin with.
PS-They are BIG. Don't consider them side by side in most boards.

I'd love to get them and give them a try and see. and check the chips. but atm I just don't have the funds. after my truck getting broke into and the deductible and all. I'm just a lil low on the cash. or I'd snag them. but I dont' wanna be cheap. so the dominators it is. as the G-skill 1066's are $54, or the PI's are $69.. but then why not spend the few more dollars and get something I know will at least OC to 1100. and possibly more.

also your list, and ramguy's list have the Corsair that I'm getting. the TWIN2X4096-8500-C5D.. but his list has the C5D F..not sure the difference. but either way I think they should be decent

Hmm, I can see what you're saying. And yes, I do believe the heat dissipation thing to be a myth. They look badass and I'm sure they do their job well, but I doubt it makes that much of a difference.

I wish that guy would come clean about the IC brand, because now I'm very curious. But I have no doubt that if it is the same IC as the others, it much more highly binned which would result in a better performer.

Of course I'm saying all this without even having OC'd my own RAM, lol. Once I get my rig up and running, I'll have to push my 800's a little and see what they're capable of.

P.S. It's nice to see someone not get their panties in a wad for being questioned on their source of knowledge. Thanks for the intellectual, non-insulting argument. It was informative and fun.

Very true hiiyah... rep+ just for the comment. I think questioning someone and getting solid and non argumentative answers and no trolling.. I think thats great.

I hate when someone wants a simple bit of help like I am now. and people say... meh.. ahhahigba @#%#%... you shoulda got this.. oh well though. enjoy your ram. you coulda got better. crap like that. I hate that. it happens a lil to much though.

This has been very informative.. this thread. and thank you all... mainly hiiyah and 18 #1.....

p.s. I don't watch nascar, but I live in Vegas!

I've been before... the seats rattling and the sound is just so overly loud. it's actually pretty fun. but watching it on tv... Just "CANNOT" do it. lol.

I'd love to go again though, but only in real life, tv nascar I can't handle.

All the higher end Mushkin 2x2 GB is PSC.

Here are a few pics.

And i'll just link to his most excellent review with more pics of Mushkin PSC.

It is PSC like Corsair, but i wouldn't say it's the exact same stuff as the Corsair, since there are different types of PSC: X, R, & the less common T at the very least.

well mine past memtest86 tests so i don't know. but they've never been "STABLE" at 1000.. don't get me wrong, they boot at 1000, and I can run them at 1000, but they get BSOD multiple times a day at 1000.. and to get those to stop the timings had to be loosened a lot, and they'd still get BSOD's. hopefully the Dominators are better, they will be here tomorrow. so after work around 6:00 PM my time, pacific. I'll give them a try. I'm hoping with these and my new 750w PSU. (I've STILLLLL not installed) I'll be able to hit something over 4.3 Ghz on my CPU.. thats my goal at least.

Thanks for the good info on the chips. will I be able to check my Dom's without voiding warranty?
