So, The Church I am the tech at is Putting on an Xmas play and we are using a video to go along with the performance. The video has 8 parts I need to pull from it, But it is not just a standard .AVI video, it is on dvd and in a VIDEO_TS file with multiple pieces. Does anyone know if I can just convert the entire DVD into something Windows Movie Maker can handle as one piece of film?

DVD Shrink (free) can help you. There's an option to "re-author" which let's you set a start and stop point. It will rip everything inbetween and make it into a vob file.

Nero 9 with NeroVision (free for 14 days) will let you take these vob files and make one clip from them. You can still add music, transitions, etc and then burn it to disc and do it that way.

I've used this method in the past and it worked well for me.
