New GTX 280 makes VERY high pitched sound when OCed - Page 3

Its the coiled capacitors...I put hot glue on both my GTX 260's to get rid of it...not one single sound anymore on load.

and no the glue won't melt lol. I used hot glue that melts at temps near 105C.

So...the little round things with copper coiled around, correct? And how exactly did you apply the glue?

Hot glue gun...little dot right on the coil then spread with a chopstick evenly.

I've done it to both my GTX260's and my 9800GTX+ on my folding rig.

All three had squeling problems...I run slipstreams the 110 cfm's and the squel was louder than the fans lol. Now I can't hear ****.

and yes the little copper coiled cap's. I dust bi-monthly and the glue is stil intact no problems whatsoever.

Interesting, I thought this was only done with PSUs.

I had it on the 8800GTX but not with the GTX280's I have now, must be some capacitor's do it and some don't.
