Safe temps for a 9600gt

Thread Starter
Well i got my fan at 70% and my XFX 9600gt is getting up to 73c in games. Its clocked at 750/1875/1000.

Should i be worried? I used to do the same clock and it didn't get this hot. At least i THINK it didn't get this hot.

Note: After a while my fan speed seems to drop down to the default... I'm using the latest version of rivatuner (i updated it today). Ideas? This is probably my problem

Try using EVGA precision and see if the fan speed still drops.

73*C is not really that hot for an OC'ed GPU.. GPUs generally do run hot under full load. If your not getting any artifacting when gaming or under full load you should be fine at those temps.

yes download evga precision 1.3.3 and don't use auto setting for fan control.

in terms of temps 73C is NOTHING. GPU's can go up to 100C and be safe it'll shut down itself if it gets too hot. But seeing temps at 80C on load is typical for average air flow and cooling.
