8.12 equals Really big headache

So this is my problem... While trying to watch some 1080P movies, I decided to upgrade because the movies are not offloading to the GPU. Well, had I done my research, I would have NEVER ran into this problem.

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Turns out that almost everyone running Vista x64 SP1 gets this problem as well. Now, I know there are people out there that are running 8.12 without a problem, but this is the first major driver headache that ATI has given to me.

I have not ran Driver Cleaner in safe mode, mainly because my MBR is screwed up with parts of GRUB still on it. I'll forcibly go into safe mode by hitting the power button or something.

But still, uninstalling 8.11, running Driver Sweeper, installing 8.12 (with reboots where they are due) did not work. I'm getting a headache and my eyes are getting drowsy by staring at my beloved screen that is spitting out 60hz images.

I'm gonna uninstall 8.12, and run in safe mode now. If it doesn't work, I'm gonna go straight up to a reformat. No exceptions, well, maybe I might procrastinate because I don't wanna stay up too late as I need to go to work tomorrow.

I, honestly, have never had such a driver headache from ATI in my life. Oh well, there's a first for everything.

PS: Inb4NVIDIAfanbois

EDIT: I got it to work... I had to uninstall the Win drivers first.

Yeah, I'm just sticking with 8.11 until ATI feels some like lovin' us guys with 4GB+ RAM.

Thats a shame. I have had zero problems with any ATI drivers, whether they be alphas or betas or realese versions. 8.12s are running great for me and I'm getting alot of extra PPD (on 384 and 548 pt WUs - 511s are unchanged) when using the new leaked beta folding core.
Glad you got it sorted anyway
