passive +fan cooling

Thread Starter
I bought XFX fatal1ty geforce 8500gt (500MHz) which has passive cooling
after playing about an hour temp goes around 70c
so i attached a fan to the passive cooling metal , the temp at peek is abt 50c
for gta4 i overclocked it to 650MHz Then temp is around 55-60c while playing it
will this damage my graphics card in longer run

no lol...GPU's can be safe at 80C on load 24/7.

70C is actually cool in terms of GPU's

55-60C is nothing.

GPU threshold for temps is around 100C and you will see artifacting possibly.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too worried.
