Thread Starter
I just finished setting up this one which, BTW, is my first over-clocking.
Your input will be greatly appreciated:

- Intel C2D E7200@2.53 GHz (stock cooling)
- ASUS P5Q-EM MoBo
- 4 GB RAM DDR2-800MHz (2 x TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX)
- 500 GB HDD (2 x 250GB Seagate ST3250310AS)
- 20" LCD Samsung SyncMaster 2053BW
- Integrated Video (X4500HD) (While I can buy a real one!)
- Vista Ultimate 64-bits

- Generic case mid tower
- Generic Power Supply 500W
- Thermaltake 90mm Chassis fan

And my first Over-clocking results are:

- 3.04 GHz (9.5 x 320)
- 802 MHz DRAM Frequency (4:5 FSBRAM)
- CPU Volt 1.1625
- DRAM Volt 1.98
- NB Volt 1.26
- Timing 5-5-5-18-3-55-6-3
- I also needed to change a BIOS setting to Performance Mode (CPU Margin Enhancement)

Temperatures:
Idle (Running Windows Vista)
CPU 17°C
System 41°C
Core0 40°C
Core1 35°C

While running Prime95 (In-place Large FFTs)
CPU 36°C
System 49°C
Core0 57°C
Core1 53°C

Stability
No errors 1st Pass on Memtest86+
No errors running Prime95 28 min (blend) (I'll run a longer test tonight)

Performance
6136 PCMarks (PCMark05 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm05=1780609)

Generic power supply? Don't put any kind of load on that. I would replace it with something reliable.

I know. The point is that I am based in Mexico and, here, I haven't found a good power supply for less than 80 bucks (430W only).

Anyway, you're right! I'll change asap

After further over-clocking, here's where I got to, for now:

In terms of cooling, I added a 120mm chassis fan, since I was getting "Motherboard" (wherever that sensor is) temperature reports of above 50°C

And my first Over-clocking results are:

- 3.19 GHz (9.5 x 335)
- 840 MHz DDR2 Frequency (4:5 FSB : DRAM)
- CPU Volt 1.20
- DRAM Volt 2.0
- NB Volt 1.26
- Timing 5-5-5-15-3-45-6-3

Temperatures:
Idle (Running Windows Vista)
CPU 17°C
System 39°C
Core0 39°C
Core1 34°C

While running Prime95 (In-place Large FFTs & Small FFTs)
CPU 38°C
System 43°C
Core0 57-60°C
Core1 54°C

Performance benchmark: 6,412 PCMarks (PCMark05)
With these settings, I ran Memtest86+, OCCT 2h test and Prime95, with no errors

I tried to get to 3.23 GHz with these same settings, but Vista started to make some funny things (services stopping while stress testing with Prime95).

Besides increasing voltage to the CPU, are there any other adjustments that may increase stability?

EDIT:
I have been trying with 3.24 GHz
I made it with 6h of Prime95, 2h of OCCT, but then I restarted Prime95 and it started crashing on Prime95. MEMTEST86 showed no errors on 2 passes of all 8 tests.

I went as high as 1.24375 on Vcore, 2.00 on DRAM and 1.28 on NB. It did not help.
My core temps are 62°C and 59°C. As I am still on stock CPU cooler, I don't feel comfortable going much higher on Vcore voltage.
CPU temp peaks at 42°C with OCCT.
NB temperature peaks at 45°C (strange, but it happens when the screen saver is active).

I have also tried to reduce the DRAM speed to DDR2 818 by changing the CPU: DRAM ratio. (It is now running at DDR2 852). No change whatsoever.

Right now I'm trying with a BIOS setting called "Load line calibration" which seems to improve the Vdroop ¿¿??. So far so good.

Any ideas on where the stability issues may come from?

Well, I was finally able to make this one stable at 3.24 GHz. Here are the details:
FSB : 341 x 4 = 1,364 MHz
CPU : 341 x 9.5 = 3,239 MHz
DRAM: 341 x 5/4 x 2 = 853 MHz DDR2
BIOS settings:
Vcore: 1.300 (BIOS setting), CPU-Z reports 1.288
DRAM voltage: 2.02 V
NB Voltage: 1.24 V
All the other settings in BIOS automatic, including memory timing
Temperatures:
Idle (while in Vista):
CPU 17°C
NB 39°C
Core 0: 39°C
Core 1: 35°C
During Stress testing:
CPU 45°C
NB 47°C (it happens when screen-saver is active)
Core 0: 64°C
Core 1: 62°C
An interesting note is that even when OCCT & Prime95 did not report any errors, I needed to increase the NB voltage because the graphics driver was crashing when running the PCMark05 benchmark tests. I assume this happens since it is onboard graphics...
