Steelseries are very nice. I would go with it because it's probably cheaper then the rocketfish.

Is the Rocketfish a Re-Branded Razer? Ratpadz and Steelseries are both great mouse pads for the money. I may get an Icemat eventually, but I don't know yet.

The Rocketfish pad is AMAZING. I've used mine for the past year and I couldn't be more happy. If your friend likes a more smooth surface for faster mouse movements (AKA, plays FPS's a lot), then grab him one.

I'd get the steelseries. Any product I've bought tried from them has been quality. I love my Qck mousepad. Hard pads also tend to wear out quickly.

Steelseries, its fairly thin and itsnt painfully small either. Personally i like low sens for my FPS games, ESPECIALLY UT2k4.

For mouse pads its generally better to have a thin, cloth pad. At least according to me...
