check craigslist locally...people are selling stuff cheap cause they need money for the holidays...

Just yesterday...in Tucson (smaller community) I found the 1st HDD I listed...which sells for 120...for 50 bucks brand new in the box. Also another guy was selling the same exact drive for 45 used. So if you live in a populated area I'm sure you can find one.

I also xferred 300 gigs of music and videos to it today and its rock solid...no problems.

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
KINGWIN EL-35EU-SBL Aluminum 3.5" Silver w/ Blue USB & eSATA One touch back up External Enclosure
This enclosure has both usb and esata. This kingwin enclosure is usb 2.0.
I got my son this same enclosure from newegg for his spinpoint 1tb hd this week.
how much did you want to spend? you could put a cheaper smaller gb internal hard drive into an enclosure.

That's what I recommend since it's lower power consumption is something I'm a fan of

:edit:

Yes, pun intended.

:edit:

get the esata cable from monoprice; it'll cost you maybe 2CAD including shipping they're awesome
