I'm liking this. I polished up the two ends on the bottom and taped a 4" ccfl to each end [edit* I polished the edges to make sure all of the light was transmitted to the acrylic]. As always, I apologize for the poor photography, it's all I've got. I tried the night snapshot setting with a low exposure time.
That wasn't quite as bright as it was IRL so I switched back to manual and bumped up the exposure time. Of course since I don't have a tripod it got a little blurry, I couldn't help it. These shots are a little brighter than IRL, but it should give you an idea.
Then I turned a couple small lights on.
If the ccfls were just a little bit brighter I could have gotten away with just the two. But I do have some ideas on how to fit a couple more in there and still look good. Remember the acrylic fan grill I messed around with? This one:
I can make one like that out of the good 1/8" alu I got from work. I know I can polish it and if I make it little longer I can tuck in two more ccfls. They'll be covered by the grill and won't shine out. I'll also try to polish the PSU bracket again since it is also the good aluminum. I'll have the acyrlic shell with a few polished accents instead of the whole thing covered in alu.
How's that sound?...Edited by shinji2k - 10/28/09 at 5:07pm
