Suggest a motherboard with it? I'll be picking one up today if there's a mobo that can get this at 3.2 stable. :O

I wish I could offer more insight. I've only used it with this 780i (in sig) so far. But from what I understand, any P35 or better should do very well.

Pretty much anything that has a reputation for OCing dual cores well. It's the quads where most people start having problems with some of the newer boards, in my experience.

I got one to upgrade my mom from a 775 Prescott @ 3.4. I used the Prescott's much better 95MM copper-core heatsink instead of the pathetic chipset sink Intel packaged with the E1200. Load temps are 32C, ambients be damned. I also run an online Gmod server on this thing, and it handles it beautifully.

Too bad I can't overclock the thing worth a damn...maybe it's the fact that I've never really OC'd an Intel? lulz.

BTW, OP, yours an Allendale or a Conroe-L? Mine's a Conroe-L.

My tests using Gmod show that this mere Celly, the single lowest Core 2 you can buy and still have two cores, is more than a match for my 4200+ X2, and it slaughtered my Venice. :\\

Your board is amazing, only ask because I'd get this cheap chip with a cheap motherboard, make a nice little combo for a low end gaming computer, CSS, CoD4 (low res) type of stuff.

I think it's a Conroe, but I'll have to check at home. I'll let you know something more concrete.

Why? It's a C2D and any C2D will do 3.0Ghz no matter which one you buy. The low end ones are a great purchase if you have some minor knowledge about overclocking.

The E1200 is great, but my favorite budget chip is the E5200

I agree. All the lower end Intel dual cores are great chips really. I've had a E4400, E6320, E7200 now, and all of them have hit 3.2Ghz easy. I've hit 3.7Ghz on water the E6320, and the E7200 hit 3.6Ghz on air on a freakn P31.. lol
Love me some Intel!
