Anyone have a favorite arcade stick they use with their ps3 or pc? I've looked, but not really sure which ones are acceptable.

My absolute favorite retail arcade stick is the Virtua Stick Pro for the Sega Saturn.

Another couple that I enjoy is the Hori Real Arcade Pro Special Edition (extremely rare) and Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 Special Addition, but they're designed for the PS2 so you'll need a converter.

If you're looking for a good PS3 stick, then go for the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 and swap the buttons or wait for the MadCatz Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition.

My fav stick, that I didn't build myself, was the Dreamcast green and white stick.

the SCIV Hori stick isnt bad either, a little on the light side but for the price its a good stick.

Thanks for mentioning the arcade sticks.

I'd be interested in building one too. Are there any recommendations for that? Any sites or specific parts that should be used?

I hope to build one that could be used on PC as well as PS3, if that is possible.

All the information you need regarding arcade sticks is compiled there. I recommend using a hacked PS1 controller pad because it's compatible with the most amount of converters, in case you decide you want to play on something else like a Dreamcast. As for joystick and buttons, it's personal preference but your main choices are:

1) Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y Joystick + Sanwa OBSF-30 Buttons + OBSF-24 Buttons
2) Seimitsu LS-32-01 Joystick + Seimitsu PS-14-G Buttons + PS-14-D Buttons
3) Happ Perfect 360 (or Competition) Joystick + Happ Competition Buttons + 1-2 Player Buttons

Sanwa joysticks and buttons are the standard for Japanese candy cabinets while Happ joysticks and buttons are standard for American cabinets. Seimitsu Joysticks and buttons are kind of in between both and some people (including myself) love them.
